Producing innovative pharmaceutical drugs
Xspray develops a new kind of formulation through unique methods - be a part of the story

Xspray uses advanced technology to develop improved and generic versions of already marketed drugs.
Xspray employs a patent-protected technology platform in order to create a pipeline of anti-cancer products with clinically relevant improvements or value enhanced generic versions for patients.
Xspray primarly develops protein kinase inhibitors (PKI) for targeted cancer treatments. PKI’s are the second largest segment within cancer drugs.
We are currently looking for a CMC Project Manager and a Formulation Scientist to strengthen the team.

Our Technology
Many new and already existing drug molecules exhibit a low or almost non-existent solubility. One way of improving the oral absorption is to use an amorphous form of the active substance.
Xspray constructs hybrid nanoparticles of the active substance which is a stable, amorphous and solid dispersion.
The successful upscaling of Xspray technology is based on the patented, unique, nozzle design which enables a robust manufacturing of amorphous solid dispersions.

Formulation Scientist
Improving formulations for improved bioavailability is what Xspray is all about. As a part of our formulation team you are leading projects from early stage to final product.
Creating robust and effective formulations for oral delivery is an iterative process with theoretical and practical challenges.
In an early stage of development, you set up the plan choose excipients and try to predict e.g. scalability, stability, cost, solubility etc. You test it in the lab, rethink, refine and try again (and again!).
When it comes to up-scaling and tech transfer to our contract manufacturers, you take part in training and trouble-shooting. That includes travelling, mainly within Europe and to USA.
With sharing of information and regulatory requirements mind, you document and verify your results every step of the way. Communication is key!
This is a scientifically and technically interesting position. You get to work independently, yet in close collaboration with other specialists from different backgrounds. Basically, it is fun!

Meet the Manager, Charlotta Liljebris
Hi Lotta, who are you?
I'm the Head of Research and Development at Xspray and the recruiting manager for these positions. I have a long background from the pharmaceutical industry.
Why are you recruiting?
Xspray is expanding. Our platform to produce improved formulations of already marketed drugs is now proven to work as expected. We are close to submitting our first market authorisation application in the US and have more project in the pipeline. That means that we need more people as well.
Who are you looking for?
First of all, someone with interest and experience from similar type of work. We are a small but expanding team, so you need to be self-driven and take initiatives within in your responsibility area. Most important is that you enjoy an open atmosphere where every colleague is important. We have fun together!
How is the future looking?
Our technology enables us to provide more cost effective treatments for common causes of cancer. The economic potential is high. We have recently issued a directed share issue raising the necessary funding to proceed according to plan. The future looks bright!

For me, it is highly motivating that the result of my work will benefit patients in the near future. Sometimes, pharmaceutical development takes time and you never know if it will succeed. Here, we work with active substances we know are working and can focus on the formulation itself!

When I founded this company 2003 it was because I saw the potential to provide better pharmaceutical drugs to a cheaper cost. Today, we have come far! I'm still involved in the daily work with production and process development. Xspray, my baby, is growing up!

Working at a smaller company like Xspray means that I get to take a great responsibility for my own work. I really enjoy the entire development process, from creating strategies, testing and trouble shooting. I also like working with a lot of different people and implement the result of my work.

Senior Formulation Scientist
